The purpose of Committee on Preparation for Ministry (CPM) is to nurture, guide, and support women and men as they confirm/discern God’s call to ordination as Teaching Elder or commissioning as Ruling Elder. We seek to work with candidates by assessing needs on an individual basis while staying faithful to the overall requirements of the PC(USA)

We have regularly scheduled meetings on the second Saturday of the months in which we have meeting of the Presbytery – January, March, June, September & November. CPM meets at 10 AM on Saturday at the Presbytery Office. Our meetings are normally 1-2 hours in length. We seek to create intentional Christian community among our members as a solid foundation from which to support those coming to us for care and guidance.

Attendance at meetings is essential as we all seek to know the journeys of all individuals within our care. At the same time, committee members will serve as liaisons to candidates for ordination/commissioning, which requires time spent outside of meetings as well.

MEMBERSHIP: This committee shall consist of nine Teaching Elders or Ruling Elders members, divided into three classes of three members each, one class of which shall be elected annually.

MEETINGS: The Presbytery of the Palisades’ CPM currently meets, as a Committee, the second Saturday of the months in which there is a Stated Meeting, at the Presbytery office, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., but Committee members meet with their Inquirers and Candidates when it is mutually convenient or are in contact with each other through the phone or e-mail.
